Week 14 Freight Updates

April 7th, 2021

In week 14, we’re seeing many of the same challenges including; new box shortage fears, an increasing focus on supply chain risk management, mounting import delays resulting from a recent demand boom, the lull before the ‘post-Suez storm’ of vessel arrivals at North Europe ports, and more in-transit ship problems.

As stretched as supply chains already are, U.S. containerized imports show no sign of letting up as the second quarter begins. Consumer demand is strengthening in the wake of fiscal stimulus and falling inventories that necessitate even more restocking. Here’s to hoping things return to some level of normalcy before peak season begins again later in 2021.
